A new FDA-cleared hand-piece expands the capability of our GentleMax® Pro laser to treat onychomycosis (nail fungus).
What options are available for nail fungus?
- Oral antifungal medications (carry side effects including the potential for liver damage / hepatotoxicity).
- Topical treatments (limited success due to their inability to penetrate the nail).
- Laser therapy
Laser therapy is a newer technology which attempts to eliminate nail fungus and increase the clear appearance of the nail. The laser pulses are applied directly to the nail bed to heat the nail and kill the fungus.
While none of these 3 methods are perfect for eradicating nail fungus, laser therapy doesn't carry the systemic effects of oral medications. This is recommended for anyone with low immunity, liver disease, or renal (kidney) dysfunction.
1 to 5 treatment sessions may be necessary, depending on severity. Cost is $125 / session.
